What is the SNEI?
The Service national de l’éducation inclusive (SNEI) was founded on July 16, 2023, and is Luxembourg’s national authority for inclusive education. The SNEI’s central mission is to promote inclusive education and ensure the quality of the support system for students with special educational needs.
Main Tasks of the SNEI
Promotion and Quality Assurance
The SNEI promotes inclusive education and ensures its quality through:
- Raising awareness about inclusive education
- Networking the various stakeholders in the support system
- Coordination and organization of activities, projects, and events
- Implementation of research and evaluation projects
Training and Professional Development
The SNEI is engaged in training and professional development in the field of inclusive education and the support system for students with special educational needs.
Strategic Development
Additional tasks include:
- Compilation of statistics
- Coordination of the development of recommendations and guidelines
- Development of a framework of reference for the support system
Who Can Contact the SNEI?
The SNEI serves as a contact point to support the following institutions and stakeholders:
- Competence centers: Eight specialized psycho-pedagogical competence centers and the ATVA (Agency for Transition to Independent Living)
- ESEB: Professional teams supporting students with special educational needs (équipes de soutien des élèves à besoins éducatifs spécifiques)
- I-EBS: Specialized teachers for students with special educational needs (instituteur·trice spécialisé·e dans la scolarisation des élèves à besoins éducatifs spécifiques)
- A-EBS: Assistants for students with special educational needs (assistant·e·s pour élèves à besoins éducatifs spécifiques)
