BlindDate is a virtual meeting platform on which student personas bring their everyday university life closer. Fictitious students provide an insight into their everyday student life. This includes information on their needs, functioning, strengths and weaknesses, strategies, assistive technologies and barriers that students encounter.
Teachers can contribute a great deal to accessibility at the university. Specific recommendations for action help teachers to remove barriers in their own teaching.
My opinion
A classmate from my Master’s programme drew my attention to an event about neurodiversity at universities. This platform was presented here and I was thrilled! What a great idea!
After reading through the autistic persona, I can warmly recommend this platform. Especially as the personas are based on the real experiences of students (big data collection).
And I don’t just find the platform useful and important for teachers, it also provides valuable information and insights for fellow students, university staff and anyone else interested or in the community. I like the respectful choice of words and the nuanced presentation.
